Abstract

Plasmacytoid urothelial carcinoma is a rare variant of urothelial carcinoma with just a handful of cases reported in the English and Turkish literature. The reported data on prognosis of this variant do not yet allow any definitive conclusions. A 53-year-old man was diagnosed with plasmacytoid urothelial carcinoma by the microscopically plasmacytoid appearance of the specimen from the transurethral resection. Immunohistochemical studies was required for differential diagnosis. Systemic chemotherapy were performed with gemcitabine and carboplatin. In this article, we report a case of invasive, non-metastatic plasmacytoid urothelial carcinoma of the bladder.

Key Words: bladder cancer, urothelial carcinoma, plasmacytoid variant
