Evaluating The Relationship Between Age at Orchiopexy Performed at Our Center and Socio-Economic Development Level of Van Province

Abstract

Objective: In this study, computed tomog-raphy (CT) findings of the cases with different levels of fat storage in renal sinus tissue are rep-resented and renal sinus lipomatosis is evalua-ted in the light of recent literature.

Material and Methods: In our study, the CT archive was investigated retrospectively. Between 2010 May – 2011 September. Eleven different cases who have been sent to our CT unit from different clinics had been evaluated.

Results: Five male, 6 female; totally 11 dif-ferent patients had been diagnosed as renal si-nus lipomatosis with CT findings. The ages of the patients differed between 36 and 80. In 7 of the patients who have been included to this study, had staghorn renal calculi. Two of them had non-spesific abdominal pain, 1 patient had acute pancreatitis and 1 patient had pyeloneph-ritis. All of these patients had renal sinus lipo-matosis.

Conclusion: Renal sinus lipomatosis is a benign pathology and the diagnosis with con-ventional radiological methods may be diffi-cult. It may be confused with urological tu-mors. CT helps us to diagnose correctly, de-termine the level of adipose tissue proliferati-on, extention to adjacent tissues and the comp-lications. The patients can be diagnosed defini-tively with the study of urologists, radiologs and pathologs together.
